Return to Sport Testing
If you have ever recovered from a serious injury that required anything from rest and rehab to surgery, you may have wondered about the appropriate time to return to your chosen sporting activities. Instead of leaving that up to guesswork or an arbitrary timeline, it’s best to see a licensed physical therapist at Evolution Physical Therapy who can test you on several different metrics before clearing you to play.

What is Return to Sport Testing
Your physical therapist may test things such as your level of pain, swelling, range of motion, and muscle performance during your return to sport testing. If you have perceived deficits in any of those areas, your therapist will design a program for you to get back to your chosen sport safely. Returning to your prior activities is important, however, it is best to do so when your body is fully ready to take on the stress of your sport without any deficiencies. If you return to sport without a physical therapist’s assessment, you may reinjure the afflicted area, or may even injure another area by overcompensating for your pain, lack of strength, or flexibility.
