Running Shoe Review: New Balance FuelCell Rebel v2

by Devin Blessing, DPT, OCS

As physical therapists working with runners, we get asked all the time about running shoes. Our Running Shoe Review series is meant to help answer some of those questions. The next up in this series is the New Balance FuelCell Rebel v2. Please reach out with any follow-up questions. And if you missed our blogs on choosing the right shoe for you, check them out here: Part 1 and Part 2.

The New Balance FuelCell Rebel v2 is a lightweight trainer that is great for up-tempo workouts. It has the same FuelCell cushioning that New Balance puts in their carbon fiber racing shoe, but without the plate. This cushioning is responsive and lightweight which makes for a springy, fast paced shoe. Because the cushioning is so responsive it has a very low to the ground feel even with a moderate stack height. The shoe also has a lateral flare in the midfoot that promotes striking more in the mid to forefoot range. Check out the video below for more details!
